“We believe that Cyber-Ark now has probably the most comprehensive Privileged Access Management suite in the market, and one that additionally offers easy integration with most existing identity provisioning solutions.”

Introducing a Unique Approach to Database Activity Monitoring without Impacting Performance

Database Administrators are highly privileged users. They can see and view any piece of data and with most of your critical business data being stored in databases, you need better control over what they have access to and what they are doing. The problem in the market today is that many DBAs are not monitored due to a claim that installing monitoring and auditing software on the production server will kill database performance. This is also apparent from a recent Independent Oracle Users Group (IOUG) Survey, 75% of DBAs say their organization can’t monitor them.

Cyber-Ark's Privileged Session Manager® for databases does not require agent installation and as a result will not impact your database performance. Moreover, by monitoring only privileged user activity which constitutes most of the risk rather than all database traffic, there is less impact on database performance.

With PSM for Databases you can:

  • Protect & isolate your databases from internal & external threats: unique proxy architecture creates a divide between administrators' end point machines and target systems so if an endpoint is infected with malware, it will not be planted on the target device when connecting to it.
  • Control privileged access and sessions on databases: pre-integrated with Cyber-Ark's Privileged Identity Management Suite, you can control DBA access and manage the privileged administrator credentials. Privileged sessions can be controlled and workflows implemented such as dual approval for session initiation, integration with the enterprise ticketing systems and more.
  • Monitor and audit all privileged sessions: DBAs can be monitored in real-time or can be recorded for forensic analysis. Every input and output command is recorded and by searching for specific SQL commands you can pinpoint specific events rapidly allowing you to view the session from that point in time.  This gives you better visibility into privileged user activity so that questions such as "what did my DBAs do on the production servers this week?" or " who updated the billing database yesterday?" can be answered rapidly.
  • Deploy rapidly with no performance overhead: PSM focuses only on the privileged users and as such does not require multiple software installations across the datacenter. In addition, PSM is not installed on the database server itself so performance is not affected and as a result, risk to business applications is minimized as is the need for rigorous testing.
